1st Sample: About Thoughts and Feelings of Dependency and Neediness

  • Translation by Dyson Devine 30th Jul 2013
English translation Original German text
From “Laws and Recommendations of the Behaviour”by Billy No. 25 [regarding thoughts and feelings of dependency and neediness] Von <Gesetze und Gebote des Verhaltens>von Billy Nummer 25 [in Bezug auf Gedanken und Gefühle der Abhängigkeit und Bedürftigkeit]
If you to take yourself, and the things which arise in relation to you, too seriously then you inflict upon yourself very great harm. And you also inflict upon yourself great harm if you make yourself dependent on other human beings or, through your wrong thinking-feeling-based imagination, you feel dependent or needy. Therefore, never tend thoughts and feelings of dependency and neediness, and also do not make yourself consciously or unconsciously dependent on other human beings, but release yourself from such thought-feeling-based impulsations and trust in yourself. You must let go of that which you assume you need from others, because if you assume that you need any things from others and desperately want these things - thereby especially love, honesty, dignity, decency, righteousness, connectedness, acknowledgement, peace, freedom and harmony is spoken of - then you make yourself needy of that and dependent upon others. However if you work against that, in that you let go of your desire for that which you believe you need, then it means that you gain a victory against your dependency and against your need, because if you do give up your gagging dependency and your need, then you reach a higher level of self-confidence and self-esteem, and indeed, because only then you yourself begin to give and can in turn therefore receive the same. But the achievement of these values also releases in you a palpable inner freedom and harmony, as well as deeper inner peace, through which you become more attractive to the other human beings, whether in relation to a partnership, friendship, acquaintanceship or in regard to a relationship of fellow humanity.
The more recognisable your inner values, such as freedom, peace, harmony and love, honesty, decency and righteousness, and so forth, the more appealing and attractive you come across to other human beings; but the more dependent and needy you become in regard to your desire for the next one or other fellow human beings, the less attractive you become to them. And the less attractive and appealing you come across, the more you will become a burden in a partnership, friendship, acquaintanceship, or other relationship with fellow human beings, and indeed, even if you do every possible imaginable thing in order to keep the other human being and win him/her for yourself. Therefore if you do not do the right thing, being that you free yourself from your dependency and neediness, rather you keep all that and perhaps promote it further, then you alienate the other human being and push him/her away from you.
Observe yourself and consciously and clearly perceive that if you let go of your dependency and neediness, the relationship with the other human being improves, be it in a relationship of partnership, friendship, acquaintanceship, or fellow humanity. Once you abandon your dependency and neediness then the magic of connectedness takes effect and lifts you and the other human being to a higher level, and indeed because a heartfelt connection arises through which results a perceptible delight. If the relationship with the other human being therefore really means something to you, then be prepared to let go of your dependency and your neediness. Be certain that you only win if you let go and make yourself free, because only thereby can you really achieve within you peace, freedom and harmony, and so forth, so you can proceed from the certainty that these values will be reciprocated by the other human being and fill you with joy and love. Only when you let go of precisely that which you think that you need, that is to say, that you must have, to which you dependently bind yourself, be it in relation to all good values of a human being in your partnership, in a friendship, acquaintanceship or in a relationship of fellow humanity; only then can you become free, open, peaceful and harmonious and truthfully receive that for which you yearn. If you no longer ask for all of that which makes you dependent and needy, you will receive it without you having to especially struggle for it and make yourself dependent and needy for it; only then can you win. But the principle thereby is: that which you yourself give that is given to you again, through the like-mindedness of the other human being. Therefore never be intent on becoming dependent and needy upon the internal or other values of another, because when you are dependent and needy, then you yourself obstruct your own way to obtaining that to which you are entitled in accord with that which you rightly, honestly, full of dignity and in decency, give the other human being and in the same way can also receive from him/her. Consider that any attempt on your part to want to take something from another is a dependency that makes you needy for that which you strive to have. You must always be concerned to refrain from purely taking, so as not to become captured by it, for which reason, first and foremost, you shall give, in an honest, dignified and decent wise, so as also to be able to receive in the same wise, without a dependency or a neediness arising. Namely when you yourself give and can receive in the same way, then everything which makes you dependent and needy disappears. Therefore be ready to let go of all your demanding, because only when you do not only take, rather you first give, will you, in turn, also be given to.
Let yourself decide what it is for which you yearn and need from this or that human being. Let yourself consciously decide what it is that you want to receive, and be clear that first you must give the same. Trust in yourself and in your right decision so that you can always assume that all the good things come to you as if by themselves only if you first give them. Constantly be prepared to trust yourself and the other human being in this wise, because thereby you enable, for yourself and the other, progress in regard to the mutual exchange of all high values such as the love, the peace, the freedom, harmony, justice, the decency, the inner connectedness, the dignity, intimacy and honesty, and so forth.

2nd Sample: About the Value of Exchanging Opinions in Relationships

  • Translation by Dyson Devine 1st November 2013
English translation Original German text
From “Laws and Recommendations of the Behaviour” by Billy No. 34 Von ‹Gesetze und Gebote des Verhaltens› von Billy Nummer 34
If you have entered into a relationship with another human being, or if you want to enter into one, then you must be quite clear and conscious of the fact that you occupy a quite different position, with regard to your opinions and your behaviour, than the other human being does. But that does not mean that differences must arise thereby, because actually it is the case that the positions of both sides bring benefit to the relationship. It is also a fact that, in any relationship between you and the other human being, one of the two will find problems that the other, alone or together with you, can lead to a solution again. And that is the case in a relationship of partnership, friendship, acquaintanceship or in another human fellowship. You and the other human being form two different poles, thus the one of the two of you is the negative part and the other is the positive part, whereby, in a normal and healthy relationship, the poles are reciprocal, which means that, on one occasion you form the negative or positive pole and another time the other human being does. Therefore, a one-sidedness must not exist where one of the two is only positive and the other is only negative, because when that is the case, one is held in bondage by the other. Therefore, a relationship of equivalence between you and another human being means that you must be mutually communicative in all things and exchange your thoughts and feelings in order to reciprocally support and help each other and solve problems. And if one has a problem, then, in a good relationship, the other must be helpful in order to solve it, whereby this can either be possible through him/her alone, or in togetherness. Thereby it is important that a good and clear exchange of opinions takes place, as it is also necessary to mutually perceive the though-feeling-based impulsations, to correctly assess the situation and also to detect subtle differences and interpret them correctly. The main task, however, is to comprehend the problem correctly, because only thereby can it really be solved. On the basis of your preparedness, and that of the other human being, to work together in partnership in order to solve a problem, in your diversity, you form a great and promising unity. In this context, one of you who, in a negative wise, strikes a problem, rationally presents it to the other whereby he/she then tackles it in a positive manner and solves it, or proceeds to work through the whole thing together with you and thereby, in a mutual exchange, to search for and to find the solution. If the problem comes from the other side, then you are the one who must confront it in a positive wise and search for a solution, or work through the problem with the other person in order to find a common solution for it. In a problem solution such as this, in which another human being plays a decisive role, you must always be conscious of the fact that this fulfils an eminently important function in your common relationship and that you must both understand and acknowledge each other’s different opinions. And only if this acknowledgement of the opinions on both sides is given, can an understanding succeed through which a common concordance - and thus a solution to the problem - can arise. It is only this concordance which then makes it possible for you and the other human being to form a togetherness and unity and to look ahead.
A good relationship with someone or with other human beings is, for you, of enormous significance and importance, and indeed only because of the fact that you do not pull back into yourself and do not grow lonely if you have any problems which you are unable to solve alone, rather you require the help of one or more other human beings. If you are the one who has the problem, or the one who solves the problem of another human being or helps with the solution through working together with him/her, it is necessary that you view and consider the whole thing as a task with which you must make an effort, either by solving the problem yourself, or by you informing the other person that he/she can solve the problem for you or together with you. It is thereby also important that you recognise the value of the other human being, whether he/she is your partner, a friend, acquaintance or other fellow human being, because only if you acknowledge the value of the other, can you take a really valuable step forward in order to solve an emerging problem. Acknowledge yourself and also show the other person your acknowledgement of him/her and of that which he/she does for you in regard to solving a problem and also otherwise. Nevertheless, you can only create and achieve this recognition for the other in yourself if you correctly assess your own achievement and that of the other and are also grateful for these achievements; because the truth is that you can no more move forward without your own acknowledgement of your own achievement, than you and the other can advance together if you do not acknowledge him/her and his/her performance, or he/she does not recognise yours.
